About
Have you ever worried: What if I contract HIV (or another germ) from the environment? What if I left the stove on or door unlocked? What if I hit someone with my car? What if I uncontrollably do something terrible to someone? What if something bad happens to my baby? What if I'm gay and I don't realize it? What if I can’t trust my senses? What if I can't trust my memory? If these sorts of thoughts worry you (especially if you repetitively check, seek assurance, or avoid situations most others don't), you could be experiencing symptoms of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), a severe anxiety disorder which can take over your life.
I provide Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) treatment, the gold-standard psychotherapy for OCD, which provides you steps to control and reduce your obsessions, anxiety, and compulsions. Importantly, the skills learned in ERP can last a lifetime, helping you enjoy your time while keeping OCD under control (even without the long-term use of medications).
I'm a recognized OCD expert and my research was used in the creation of international standards for clinicians providing treatment for adults with OCD. Perhaps most importantly, I overcame my OCD and work within the tradition of the wounded-healer. OCD doesn't usually go away on its own. Most wait years before seeking support. Don't wait. Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I provide cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), in-person and remote, to teenagers (13+) and adults.
Some of my clients benefit simply from sharing their concerns and challenges with me in a safe, non-judgmental space. Sometimes a good listener and unconditional support are all that’s needed to feel better.
However, some forms of anxiety require more than just a safe space. These forms of anxiety require that we collaborate using accurate, up-to-date information and specialized interventions.
Most importantly, whatever approach we decide on, our relationship is always at the center of our time together. I'll consistently seek feedback from you regarding your feelings and thoughts so that we can adjust and adapt to best support you.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Master's degree in clinical psychology
Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)
